KIRTLAND -- Fire investigators are saying that the cause of Monday night's fire at the Holden Arboretum was accidental.
The fire Monday night destroyed a maintenance building, including half a dozen vehicles, as well as a metal and carpentry shop.
A park ranger making rounds spotted the fire around 9 p.m., after hearing popping and cracking noises.
No one was hurt.
More than a dozen fire departments from Lake and Geauga counties battled the fire, bringing it under control shortly after 11 p.m. Monday.
Since there are no fire hydrants in the area, water had to be hauled in to battle the fire in tankers.
Firefighters remained on the scene overnight to douse hot spots.
The Holden Arboretum sits on 3,600 acres and is one of the largest of its kind in the United States. It's a popular spot for bird watchers and outdoor enthusiasts.
We're told the fire will not impact regular activities there.
