TOLEDO -- The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force Toledo Division arrested Cameron L Stewart, 29, wanted out of Tempe, AZ for conspiracy to sell/transport marijuana and possession of marijuana which occurred in November 2009.
In September 2011, information was developed by the U.S. Marshals in Phoenix that Stewart could be in the Muskeegon, MI area.
In November 2011, U.S. Marshals in Grand Rapids, MI attempted to conduct surveillance on a location in Muskeegon, MI for Stewart. That surveillance was unsuccessful but information gathered by that investigation led to possible leads in the Toledo area.
On Monday morning, the task force received a tip via text message which was a new system just established within the last two weeks.
The tip led the NOVFTF to a residence on East Hudson Street in Toledo.
The NOVFTF was able to locate and arrest Stewart at that residence and he was found hiding in the bathroom.
He was taken to the Lucas County Jail and currently awaits his extradition back to Arizona.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, "We have already received a large amount of text message tips from the public and this is the first one that has led to arrest. We anticipate that this new program will bring in more information and lead to many arrests as we continue to hunt down these wanted fugitives."
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of a known fugitive is encouraged to contact the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at: 1-866-4-WANTED or text keyword WANTED and the tip to 847411(tip411).
