CLEVELAND -- What happened to Regency Windows?

That's the question a lot of people are asking this week after the company abruptly shut its doors and stopped answering phone calls.

"I'd like an explanation for what happened and what they're going to do," says Terry Delapa.

It's a simple request, but as days pass, Delapa realizes Regency Windows Company isn't going to be transparent about its problems.

Back in November, Delapa placed an order for 15 brand new windows with the company, one she considered well-established.

Being a good customer, Delapa paid half of the total bill before her installation was set.

She paid $4,175 up front.

When the big day finally rolled around last Friday, her windows never arrived.

"They were scheduled to be here between 8 and 9:30. 9:30 rolled around, nobody was here, 10:30, nobody was here. So I started placing phone calls," she said.

Every call went to a recording, saying the offices were not open and gave no other details.

"I left several messages, obviously none of which were returned," Delapa explained.

The Ohio Attorney General's office received the same complaint from a total of 15 consumers. No one can reach a representative with Regency, let alone get their orders completed.

Delapa knows her windows are sitting in the warehouse. She just wants either the windows or her money back, but she'll settle for some straight answers first.

"To just totally turn your back and walk away is -- to me -- an unethical way of doing business," Delapa said.

We did a search of court records and, as of Monday evening, Regency Window Company has not filed for bankruptcy.

There are a few things you can do if you find yourself in this situation according to the Attorney Generals office:

  • Dispute any charges over $50 with your credit card company if the service wasn't received.
  • Save all receipts, letters and documents
  • File a proof of claim with bankruptcy court if the company files for bankruptcy.

The complaint line for the Attorney General's office is 1-800-282-0515.
