PORTAGE COUNTY -- Five people have been charged in Portage County in connection with 28 burglaries.   Investigators say they have tied one or more of those being charged to each of the cases.

The burglaries stretch across four counties. Investigators say they believe there are more unsolved burglaries and thefts that can be tied to the group as well.

All of the cases will eventually be taken to a grand jury.

Investigators say the five would target homes outside of populated areas. They would knock on the door in the morning and would gain entry to the home if no one answered.

Investigators say the five would use an open door or window to get inside but would also use force if necessary.

Investigators say the five looked for small items that were easy to carry and took the items to pawn shops to be sold for cash. Items taken included small electronics, coins and jewelry.

Police from Streetsboro, Aurora, Twinsburg, Bainbridge and the Geauga County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant in Streetsboro on January 20 at the residence of three of the accused. Investigators recovered items at the house that victims have identified as being taken from their homes.
