KENT -- Police are investigating the death of an 88-year-old man.
Authorities say Gordon F. Vars was crossing Fairchild Avenue at the intersection of Woodard Avenue when a driver in a Volkswagon Beetle struck him.
Vars was taken to Akron City Hospital where he died.
The Medical Examiner's Office is expected to perform an autopsy today.
Police are still investigating the crash and the name of the driver has not been released yet.
