SUGARCREEK -- The State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle accident with serious injuries that happened Sunday night in Sugarcreek Township.
The crash happened on Elton Street just went of Smith Road.
Troopers say an ATV driving eastbound on Elton by a Brewster man struck the rear of a horse drawn buggy driving by a man from Navarre.
After striking the buggy, the ATV overturned and the driver was ejected.
The driver of the horse and buggy was also thrown from the buggy and dragged several feet by the horses.
The ATV driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
He was not using a safety belt or helmet.
The driver of the horse suffered injuries but not not transported.
Investigators say alcohol appears to have been a factor in this crash.
It is under investigation.
