DENVER - There's 3 feet of snow on the ground in Evergreen, Colo., west of Denver, and some areas to the east now have a foot or more of snow on the ground.
A band of heavy snow has stalled in central Nebraska, dumping nearly 13 inches in some spots. Winter storm warnings have also been posted for parts of Wyoming and Kansas.
Truckers and other travelers are stranded after snow closed parts of Interstate 70 on Colorado's Eastern Plains. The closures are expected to remain in place overnight. Forecasters say snow has been falling at 2 inches an hour in some areas, producing blizzard conditions.
Colorado avalanche monitors have posted a warning east of the Continental Divide, saying 2 feet of snow or more could overwhelm a weak snow pack.
