CLEVELAND -- After concerns about the structural integrity of a roof at Almira School, which was housed at Nathaniel Hawthorne, the district is taking a closer look at older buildings.
With 2000's roof collapse at East High School, the Cleveland schools don't want to take any chances.
"We have asked custodians to inspect even more carefully schools that are older than 1940's," says Chief Operating Officer Patrick Zohn.
They have not found any additional problems. This comes after problems were found at Almira School which was housed in Nathaniel Hawthorne.
The school is now being moved to Brooklawn, which opens to students Thursday.
"We will err on the side of caution, and trust our custodians to find problems," says Zohn.
The Ohio Department of Education says local inspections are left up to local cities and districts. The city fire department does do yearly fire inspections, but custodians check for any building problems.
