ROCKY RIVER -- A woman is dead and a man badly injured after a crash just after 1 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 90.
A Lorain woman is dead and a Lorain man is in MetroHealth Medical Center severely injured after they were struck by a white 1999 Chevy Cavalier on Interstate 90.
Antoinette Marie Hamilton, 23, of Lorain died of her injuries at the scene. David E. Latten, 42, of Lorain, was taken to the hospital with incapacitating injuries, highway patrol troopers said.
Hamilton and Latten were inside a vehicle stopped on the left shoulder of the roadway in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 at 1:15 a.m. Sunday.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers say that Hamilton jumped out the vehicle and Latten followed after her.
The Cavalier, driven by a Cleveland man, 19, was eastbound and struck both Hamilton and Latten as they jumped over the concrete divider wall in the left lane, according to troopers.
No one in the Cavalier was hurt but it was badly damaged and had to be towed from the accident scene. The three passengers were two Cleveland men, 19 and 23, and a Shaker Heights man, 18.
The accident remains under investigation.
