INDIANAPOLIS -- The priest of a church, smack dab in the middle of Super Bowl Village, found himself in an interesting position.
Close the doors and hide or embrace the hundreds of thousands of people that would walk past his parish doors.
He chose the latter. The result has been breathtaking views for guests, life changing moments and evangelizing, exactly what Father Rick Nagle had hoped.
Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church is located right at the end of the extremely popular Super Bowl zip lines.
Outside the signage works to bring those folks inside for another "thrill."
In addition to the candles and ornate icons, guests are finding peace in a busy place.
Many guests are giving donations. The hope of Father Nagle is to put a dent in the restoration of 140-year-old spires. The architecture that is symbolic for pointing to heaven has dry rotted.
Sunday parishioners are being told to come to church if it's easy on them. It's more likely though the people in the pews will be people who also hold Super Bowl tickets. The church parking lot is being leased by local and national media.
Father Nagle says it's a great opportunity for his members to attend another church.
