MEDINA COUNTY -- A driver has been charged with DUI after Highway Patrol troopers say he traveled for miles on Interstate 71 going the wrong way.

Troopers were called Thursday night around 11 p.m. after drivers reported a car traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-71 near Lodi.

The Highway Patrol spotted the car just south of Route 18. Troopers stopped traffic on I-71 while they attempted to stop the driver.

After nearly hitting a cruiser, the car finally came to a stop.

Troopers say the driver from Parma Heights had a blood alcohol level of 2.09.

Besides DUI, the driver faces fleeing and other charges.
